Why should I read this?
If you are interested in the modern rock scene of the last 30 years then you will know of Dave Grohl and his work and this will not let you down. If you have not heard of Dave Grohl then this will explain from the very beginning how he came to be one of the biggest rock icons of the last 20 years in two of the most successful bands of their generations.
Who is Dave Grohl?
He is the drummer to the one of the most influential and successful bands of the last 50 years, Nirvana, ushering in a completely new style and music genre completely unique to them spawning a thousand imitators and countless bands in their wake who have been inspired by their work. Not content with the success of Nirvana he went on to found the Foo Fighters who have been a mainstay of global sell out arena tours for almost 20 years.
Book Style
This book is very unique in the way it is set out, which I would liken to movies which shift in time back and forth. Giving glimpses into his very early days and comparing those with how he feels and how he has been affected by these experiences today.
Wonderfully informal and a joy to read, I read it in one sitting one evening, it is refreshingly different to other biographies and autobiographies in a similar vein.
What I thought of it.
This was a present from my brother who knows I love music, and obviously knowing who he is I was excited to get to learn how his success came about. It did not disappoint and as I mentioned above I read it in one night, as I could not put it down. So many stories about the legends of Rock, Paul McCartney, Lemmy, the one and only Iggy Pop. If you are into Rock I would say this is a must read, and if you are interested in how someone came to be one of the biggest stars in music, this will also fit the bill.
